Caged (5e Background)
From D&D Wiki
Caged[edit]
You grew up in a cage as a slave to humans. Every day, you were beaten for their entertainment, forced to fight monsters for their entertainment, or used as a lab rat. Because of the years of trauma, your face and body are hideously scarred, and you have to wear a mask so as not to scare other creatures. By some miracle, you're free now, whether that is because you escaped or because a human felt pity for you and decided to buy you and set you free.
Prerequisite: non-human race
Languages: Undercommon
Equipment: A set of traveler's clothes and a single gold coin
Feature: Trauma Endurance[edit]
Due to the trauma you have endured you gain proficiency in Constitution saving throws. Your hit point maximum decreased by 2, and whenever you gain a level thereafter, your hit point maximum increases by an additional 2 hit points.
Feature: Claustrophobic[edit]
Due to your experiences, you hate being imprisoned. When you're trapped in a small space and cannot move or you are chained/restrained, you will go into a panicked state, during which you can't cast or maintain concentration for spells. During this state, other creatures have an advantage on attack rolls against you.
Alternate Feature: Hideously Scarred[edit]
After years of torture your face and body are hideously scarred. Every time your skin regenerated it grew back stronger and more hideous.
You gain +1 Constitution and -1 Charisma, you gain a additional -1 Charisma when not wearing a mask or a other piece of clothing to cover you face
