Cacodaemon Familiar (5e Creature)
Cacodeamon Familiar[edit]
Tiny fiend (devil), lawful evil Armor Class 13
Skills Deception +4, Insight +2, Stealth +5 Shapechanger. The cacodaemon can use its action to polymorph into a beast form that resembles an octopus (20 ft., swim 50 ft.), a snake (20 ft., climb 20 ft.), a fennec fox (30 ft.), or polymorph back into its true form. Its statistics are the same in each form, except for speed changes. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies. ACTIONSBite. Melee Weapon Attack: 2 + your spell attack modifier to hit reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2 (1d6)+2 piercing damage + [Cacodaemonia] DC 12 wisdom or take 1d6 poison damage and gain the poisioned condition until the start of your next turn. Any creature immune to disease is also immune to these effects. Invisibility. The cacodaemon magically turns invisible until it attacks, or until its concentration ends (as if concentrating on a spell). Any equipment it wears or carries is invisible with it. Soul Lock (1/Day). a cacodaemon can ingest the spirit of any sentient creature that has died within the last minute. This causes a soul gem to grow inside of the cacodaemon’s gut, which it can regurgitate as a standard action. A soul gem is a tiny object with 5 hit points. Destroying a soul gem frees the soul within, though it does not return the deceased creature to life. This is a death effect. Any attempt to resurrect a body whose soul is trapped in a soul gem requires a DC 15 Charisma check. Failure results in the spell having no effect, while success shatters the victim’s soul gem and returns the creature to life as normal. The soulgem must be present for resurrection to occur with anything but a wish. As a standard action, a character may ingest a soul gem (which is a evil act.) Doing so frees the soul within, but condemns it to one of the lower planes (though the soul can be returned to life as normal). Eating a soul gem gives the consumer 3 hp per round for a number of rounds equal to its CR.

These devils tend to gather around battlefields and greater demons bringing them souls in exchange for protection and favors. Such pandering is often welcome because of the fact that souls are used as food or can be exchanged for goods or services. The cacodaemon will sometimes be assigned as a familiar by devils or patrons having anything to do with souls. |
