The result of human weaponsmiths experiments into creating a more durable shortsword. The broadsword is both wider and broader than even the most greatswords, making it just as durable. Though the extra width that gives it that strength makes it a poor thrusting weapon, it makes for a great hacking sword. Elves cannot deny the effectiveness of this design, but find it isn't too their tastes. Half-orcs, however, have been known to appriciate the blade design however, sometimes even bringing it to orc tribes for use alongside their other weapons, often for generations afterwards. Even dwarves who prefer axes and hammers will use the sword design. Goblinoids have also been seen using the weapon, though those few goblinoids who have been asked about it have expressed indifference to the particular weapon design.
