Brain over Brawn (Fighter[1] Archetype)[edit]

This is a transplanted archetype written by Zaizin inc. This wasn't on the d20pfsrd site so I added it here.

Sometimes a fight isn't about who has the best equipment or who has trained the longest. A fighter knows the fight and sometimes this means relying on the self more than fancy tools. To dodge rather than block or to hit great with anything rather than hit better with one thing. Sometimes a fighter just needs to learn to think and use skill more than power.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency[edit]

A Brain over Brawn Fighter retains weapon proficiencies but does not gain any armor or shield proficiencies.

Self Reliance[edit]

In addition to the loss of armor and shield proficiencies, the class skills Armor Training IV and Armor Mastery are removed. Armor Training I, II, and III now occur at levels 1, 10, and 19. Additionally, no Advanced Armor Training can be taken. Instead, every other bonus feat instead provides two bonus feats (for levels 1, 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20).

Intelligence over Bravery[edit]

This fighter does not gain the Bravery feat at level 2. Instead the fighter gains an extra skill point similar to the human's racial bonus skill point. If the character is already human, the human racial bonus skill point transcends to a +2 points per level rather than a +1.

Rounded Growth[edit]

The saves of this fighter are slightly different. Changes are noted in the chart below.

Weapon Generalization[edit]

Weapon Training III and IV and Weapon Mastery are removed. Weapon Training I and II occur at levels 15 and 20. Additionally, no Advanced Weapon Training can be taken. Base attack bonus gains a +2 every three levels. The number of potential attacks still increases at levels 6, 11, and 16 and the maximum BAB does not exceed 20. The chart below shows Brain over Brawn Fighter level growth.
