Blodsorcery (5e Subclass)
Arcane Ascendant[edit]
Wizard Subclass
Arcane Ascendants are wizards who have embarked on a dangerous path where magic and life are intertwined. Through personal sacrifice, these wizards can unleash powerful spells and manipulate magic more effectively, but always at the cost of their own vitality.
Level 1: Wizard's Ascension
From the start of your path as an Arcane Ascendant, your mastery over magic allows you to perform extraordinary feats, though at a personal cost. You have learned to manipulate your own life essence to amplify your magical abilities. You gain the following abilities:
- Bonus Action: The magic flowing within you is so powerful that you can spend 2 sorcery points and sacrifice 3 hit points to take a bonus action on your turn. This bonus action can only be used to cast a cantrip or take the Dodge, Disarm, Help, or Use an Object action. - Arcane Advantage: You can spend 1 sorcery point and sacrifice 2 hit points to gain advantage on an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw. - Metamagic Creation: At the end of a long rest, you can design a custom metamagic. Set a cost of 1-5 sorcery points and choose an effect that alters how you cast a spell (range, area, narrative effects).
Level 6: Vital Conduit
Your mastery of magic has led you to a more intimate relationship with your own life energy, allowing you to manipulate it to heal, aid others, and increase your own power. You gain the following abilities:
- Life Transfer: As an action, you can spend sorcery points and sacrifice 4 hit points to heal a creature within 30 feet. - Vital Conversion: You can sacrifice 5 hit points to gain 1 additional sorcery point. - Vital Link: If an ally within 30 feet of you drops to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction and sacrifice 6 hit points to transfer hit points equal to 1d10 + your Charisma modifier. - Vital Transformation: You can sacrifice hit points to recover a spell slot.
Level 10: Blood Reserve
Your connection to blood magic has reached remarkable levels. Now, you can store and manipulate the energy of your life for additional power:
- Blood Arcane Storage: By sacrificing 10 hit points, you can store 5 sorcery points within your body. - Lightning Recovery: You can sacrifice 8 hit points to recover 1d8 sorcery points after casting a spell. - Powerful Blood Sacrifice: Once per long rest, you can sacrifice 15 hit points to double the effects of your next spell.
Level 14: Bloody Ascension
The magic of blood and life fuses into a power so immense that you can unleash a wave of energy that can reshape reality itself. You gain the following abilities:
- Bloody Aura: Enemies within your aura suffer disadvantage on their saving throws against your spells. You can sacrifice 10 hit points to increase the damage of your spells within this area. - Supreme Sacrifice: As an action, you can sacrifice 20 hit points to gain 5 sorcery points and a +5 bonus to all your rolls until the end of your next turn. - Blood Power: Once per long rest, you can sacrifice 30 hit points to unleash a burst of magical energy.
Level 18: Supreme Control of Reality
Your power over magic and blood has reached a point so high that you can manipulate reality itself, but the cost of doing so is colossal:
- Reality Rewriting: By sacrificing 40 hit points, you can alter a significant part of reality. - Spell Manipulation: You can sacrifice 25 hit points to alter a spell, changing its target, range, duration, or damage type. - Overflow of Power: By sacrificing 40 hit points, you double the damage of all your spells for 1 minute. - Control of Reality at Will: By sacrificing 60 hit points, you can rewrite reality at will within a nearby area.
