Blightbearer[edit]

Fighter Subclass

In a world where life and death intertwine, the Blightbearer strides across the battlefield, a somber figure who wields the power of decay and renewal. They are the harbingers of ruin, spreading pestilence and blight with each swing of their weapon, yet within their destructive wake lies the seed of new beginnings. With each life taken, they remind all of the inevitable cycle of decay that leads to rebirth, becoming a fearsome embodiment of nature's most primal and merciless aspect.

Touch of Decay

Starting at 3rd level, your connection to the forces of decay allows you to imbue your melee attacks with necrotic energy. Once per turn, when you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can deal an additional 1d4 necrotic damage to the target. This damage increases by 1d4 at 7th, 10th, and 15th level. Additionally, if you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with this feature, you gain temporary hit points equal to your fighter level.

Aura of Blight

Also at 3rd level, you emanate a subtle aura of decay that can sap the vitality of those around you. As a bonus action, you can activate this aura for 1 minute. While active, enemies within 10 feet of you at the start of their turn must make a Constitution saving throw against your Fighter spell save DC. On a failed save, they take 1d6 necrotic damage and have disadvantage on any ability check or attack roll they make until the end of their next turn. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Withering Strike

By 7th level, your mastery of blight allows you to weaken your foes with each hit. Whenever you hit a creature with a weapon attack, you can impose one of the following effects on the target (your choice) :

  • Sap Strength : The target has disadvantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws until the end of your next turn.
  • Enfeeble Vitality : The target's speed is reduced by 10 feet until the end of your next turn.
  • Leech Resilience : The target has disadvantage on Constitution checks and Constitution saving throws until the end of your next turn.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Blighted Resilience

At 10th level, the blight within you fortifies your body, granting you resistance to poison damage and advantage on saving throws against disease and being poisoned. Furthermore, when you take poison damage or fail a saving throw against a disease or being poisoned, you can use your reaction to absorb some of the blight's power, gaining temporary hit points equal to half the damage taken or suffering from the condition (minimum of 1 temporary hit point). This ability can be used a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Plaguebearer's Mantle

By 15th level, your presence becomes a nexus of blight and decay. Enemies within 10 feet of you at the start of their turn must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or become poisoned until the end of their next turn. Additionally, while an enemy is poisoned by this feature, you and your allies gain advantage on attack rolls against them.

This aura of decay does not affect you or your allies, showcasing your dominion over blight and your ability to wield it without harm to those you deem worthy.

He Who Brought Death

At 18th level, you embody the ultimate blight, spreading catastrophic plagues with your mere presence. Once per long rest, you can unleash an epidemic in a 60-foot radius centered on yourself. Enemies within the area must make a Constitution saving throw, taking 8d8 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Additionally, any enemy that fails its saving throw is afflicted with a debilitating condition (chosen by you from a list that includes blinded, deafened, paralyzed, or poisoned) for 1 minute.
