  1. The SRD only gives a means to determine costs and weights of weapons for Large and Small versions based on the Medium weapons. Any other supplied values are the author's best determination.

The stave on this heavy crossbow is made of metal with sharpened steel points resembling picks.

This weapon functions as a heavy crossbow, except the ends of its stave are replaced by two sharpened blades which function as light picks. The construction of this crossbow is strengthened to withstand melee use. You may wield the crossbow as a light pick without penalty as such. However, using the bladed crossbow in melee while it is loaded with a bolt incurs a -2 penalty to attack rolls.

The crossbow and blades count as separate weapons when determining proficiency and weapon enchantments. You must be proficient with both the heavy crossbow and light pick to use this weapon to full potential.
