Black Pudding Sea (5e Creature)
From D&D Wiki
Black Pudding Sea[edit]
Gargantuan ooze (titan), unaligned Armor Class 11 (natural armor)
Skills Intimidation +14, Perception +12 Amorphous. The pudding can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing. Augmented Critical. The pudding's attacks score a critical hit on a die roll of 18–20, and on a critical hit it rolls damage dice three times, instead of twice. Corrosive Form. A creature that touches the pudding or hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 4 (1d8) acid damage. Any nonmagical weapon made of metal or wood that hits the pudding corrodes. After dealing damage, the weapon takes a permanent and cumulative -1 to attack and damage rolls. If its penalty drops to -5, the weapon is destroyed. Nonmagical ammunition made of metal or wood that hits the pudding is destroyed after dealing damage. Death Throes. When the pudding dies, it explodes, and each creature within 30 feet of it must make a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw, taking 70 (20d6) acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Metal and wooden objects within the area of effect are subjected to the pudding's Corrosive Form trait. Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the pudding fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead. Magic Resistance. The pudding has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. Primal Strikes. The pudding ignores other creatures' resistance and immunity to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage. Regeneration. The pudding regains 40 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point. Siege Monster. The pudding deals double damage to objects and structures. Spider Climb. The pudding can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check. ACTIONSMultiattack. The pudding can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes four weapon attacks. Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d6 + 7) bludgeoning damage plus 25 (4d8 + 2d6) acid damage. In addition, nonmagical armor worn by the target is partly dissolved and takes a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty to the AC it offers. The armor is destroyed if the penalty reduces its AC to 10. Acid Glob. Ranged Weapon Attack: +14 to hit, range 200/800 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (4d6 + 7) bludgeoning damage plus 7 (2d6) acid damage. In addition, nonmagical armor worn by the target is partly dissolved and takes a permanent and cumulative -1 penalty to the AC it offers. The armor is destroyed if the penalty reduces its AC to 10. Frightful Presence. Each creature of the pudding's choice that is within 120 feet of the pudding and aware of it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the pudding's Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours. REACTIONSSlough. When the pudding is subjected to lightning or slashing damage, its hit points are reduced by 170 and a Huge black pudding with 170 hit points splits off of it. LEGENDARY ACTIONSThe pudding can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The pudding regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn. Detect. The pudding makes a Wisdom (Perception) check. |
A black pudding with the kaiju template applied to it. This gigantic mass of black ooze slowly creeps along, dissolving and absorbing anything in its path. It can slough off larger-than-normal but otherwise ordinary black puddings, and easily regains the lost material by "eating" everything it dissolves. When it creeps through a city, any buildings in its path are toppled as their foundations are completely eaten away, causing mass destruction. |
