Betelgeuse (5e Creature)
Betelgeuse[edit]
Medium undead, chaotic evil Armor Class 13
Saving Throws Con +6, Cha +7 Innate Spellcasting. Betelgeuse’s innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 15). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components. At will: disguise self, major image, misty step 3/day each: fear, silence, unseen servant 1/day: Otto's irresistible dance Say His Name. If a creature says the name "Betelgeuse" three rounds in a row without being interrupted, Betelgeuse's hit points are reduced by 30 every round that the name is spoken. If the creature is interrupted (such as by the silence spell), Betelgeuse regains the hit points he lost through this feature. ACTIONSPossession (Recharge 6). One humanoid that Betelgeuse can see within 5 ft. of it must succeed on a DC 15 Charisma saving throw or be possessed by Betelgeuse; Betelgeuse then disappears, and the target is incapacitated and loses control of its body. Betelgeuse now controls the body but doesn't deprive the target of awareness. Betelgeuse can't be targeted by any attack, spell, or other effect, except ones that turn undead, and he retains his alignment, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, and immunity to being charmed and frightened. He otherwise uses the possessed target's statistics, but doesn't gain access to the target's knowledge, class features, or proficiencies. The possession lasts until the body drops to 0 hit points, Betelgeuse ends it as a bonus action, or Betelgeuse is turned or forced out by an effect like the dispel evil and good spell. When the possession ends, Betelgeuse reappears in an unoccupied space within 5 ft. of the body. The target is immune to Betelgeuse's Possession for 24 hours after succeeding on the saving throw or after the possession ends.

Betelgeuse (also spelled "Beetlejuice") is a mischievous trickster and ghost, as well as a self proclaimed "bio-exorcist" that specializes in frightening the living out of the residences of other restless spirits. Qualifications. Betelgeuse attended Julliard, is a graduate of the Harvard Business School, traveled quite extensively, lived through the Black Plague (and had a pretty good time during that), has seen "The Exorcist" about 167 times (and it keeps getting funnier every single time he's seen it), not to mention that you're reading about a dead guy. Around 1300 A.D., Betelgeuse was fatally poisoned by his fiance Delores and became a social worker for the Neitherworld. |
