Belial[edit]

Physical Description[edit]
Belial are large humanoids with black skin and massive claws. They possess incredible reach and stride, almost giving the appearance of having arms and legs too long and thick for their comparatively slim torsos and smaller heads. Born of darkness, their eyes appear as deep voids, and those who look to long into them have been known to hear voices, see evil visages, and even go temporarily insane. They tend to be hairless and there is very little dimorphism between males and females.
History[edit]
Thought to originate from the intermingling of the Shadowfell and the Hells, the true true origin of the belial is mostly speculation, rumor, and myth.
However, it is known that darkness serves as a permanent ally for the belial. They are also native to the Shadowfell, thriving in places closely connected with the plane of darkness itself. As far as other races are concerned, belial are more mysterious than dangerous and have a shaky, but overall non-violent history in reference to the civilizations of the world. It is thought that they are ill omens, resulting in poor relations with others.
Society[edit]
As would be expected, belial live mostly in large, dark places such as cave systems and deeply entrenched woodlands. They are nomadic and non-confrontational, greatly preferring trade or avoidance to open conflict.
Built on strong mutual trust, belial family groups are small, but fiercely protective of one another. Of course when you look like a belial, most who stumble upon you would choose to run long before the thought to fight would come to them. Friends other than other belial are few and far between. However, belial are perfectly capable of forming kindred relations with others if given a chance.
Belial Names[edit]
Belial didn't have names for a very long time, but found them useful when interacting with non-belial neighbors and traders.
Belial generally choose an emotion, something either comforting to allies, or terrifying to enemies, depending upon which the belial is more likely to encounter in their given circumstance. They therefore can possess two names and give them out to those they deem one or the other. These names are ungendered.
Names Towards Allies: Chorgath ("safety"), Hranar'R ("confidence"), Igashh'Tha ("home")
Names Towards Foes: Sabrakk ("fear"), Orgaultash ("doom"), Ebrenel ("inferiority")
