Physical Description[edit]
Beetles are characterized by their tough exoskeletons, that provide natural protection, and by their connection with soil and the ground.
Beetle Traits[edit]
Ability Score Increase. Your Strength and Constitution score increases by 1.
Age. Beetles usually live up to 5 years. They reach maturity at 2.
Alignment. Beetles are usually Neutral, with their Scarab subrace counterparts being usually of the Lawful variant.
Size. Your size is Tiny.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 20 feet.
Darkvision. You have adapted to the dark. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Natural Armor. Beetles have a tough outer shell. Your new AC is 12 + DEX.
Languages. You can speak, read and write Insect or Common*.
Subrace. Choose either the Scarab or Stag subrace.
- This is mainly based on the scenario. If you are for example doing a bug campaign, you would probably want to know Insect, aka. "The Bug Common".
Scarab[edit]
Scarab beetles are known for their heavy color variation, with gold like patterns that are sure to impress anyone, for their incredible durability, and for their connection with the sun.
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 1.
Mold Earth. You know the *mold earth* cantrip. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
Burrower. You have a burrowing speed of 15ft. You can move through non-magical soil without disturbing the material around you.
Not Anymore There's A Blanket. While in direct sunlight, you can choose to heal 1d4+2 hit points as an action. Three charges, resets after a long rest.
Stag[edit]
Stag beetles are known for their incredible strength and high territoriality.
Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 1.
High Territoriality. Your will to protect your territory is helping you in combat. Choose one type of favored terrain: forest or grassland. When you make an attack roll in your favored terrain, add half of your proficiency bonus (rounded up) +1.
Natural Grappling. You have large mandibles (1d4 piercing) capable of handling the toughest battles. You have proficiency in Grappling.
