Combat Superiority. When the battle master hits with a weapon attack, the battle master can choose one of the following effects to add to the attack:

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The battle master makes two weapon attacks. It can replace one of those attacks with a use of Commander's Strike.

Greatsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage.

Longbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, range 150/600 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d8 + 1) piercing damage.

Commander's Strike. The battle master targets one friendly creature it can see within 30 feet of it. If the target can see and hear the battle master, the target can make one weapon attack as a reaction.

Battle masters devote their lives to the thrill of battle, often gaining small followings because of their constant convictions. Armed with a sword and a bow, they travel the land on foot to find worthy challengers to defeat in battle. Some do hero's work, slaying foul beasts and wicked fiends. Others become the villain, luring in heroes to defeat them or be defeated. Either way, they often show mercy to truly worthy opponents, sparing them in exchange for their servitude. The same is true in reverse, and anyone would be lucky to have a battle master and their followers serving or guarding them.
