A sword with a broad, double edged blade, and a thick steel basket over the single handed hilt. The size & shape of the hand guard grants a couple advantages over a more traditional longsword. First, because the whole hand is enveloped by it, it is very difficult to wrest it from someone grip; the wielder gains a +2 bonus on opposed rolls to avoid being disarmed.
