Barbarian Animal Totems[edit]
This list of animal totems is in addition to the ones printed in Unearthed Arcana.
Class: Barbarian
Level: 1, 2, 3, or 5
Replaces: The following class features replace any or all of barbarian class features, fast movement, uncanny dodge, trap sense, or improved uncanny dodge
Benefit: Choosing an animal totem below, you gain the abilities listed in replace of the ones stated you lose.
Cheetah
A barbarian dedicated to the cheetah totem does not gain the standard uncanny dodge, trap sense, or improved uncanny dodge barbarian class features, and instead gains the following abilities.
- A 2nd-level cheetah-totem barbarian gains alertness as a bonus feat.
- At 3rd-level, the cheetah-totem barbarian gains Sprint, as a cheetah has.
- A cheetah-totem barbarian of 5th level gets another 10ft of land speed added to her fast movement class feature.
Crocodile
A barbarian dedicated to the crocodile totem does not gain the standard fast movement, uncanny dodge, trap sense, or improved uncanny dodge barbarian class features, and instead gains the following abilities.
- At 1st level, a crocodile-totem barbarian gains a swim speed equal to one-half his base land speed (round down to the nearest 5-foot interval). For instance, a human, elf, half-elf, or half-orc crocodile-totem barbarian has a swim speed of 15 feet, while a dwarf, gnome, or halfling crocodile-totem barbarian has a swim speed of 10 feet.
- A 2nd level, a crocodile-totem barbarian has a +2 bonus to hide in water. This bonus increases to +4 when partially or completely submerged in water.
- At 3rd level, a crocodile-totem barbarian gains Improved Grab.
- At 5th level, a crocodile-totem barbarian’s swim speed equals his base land speed. Also the crocodile-totem barbarian can hold their breath for a number of minutes equal to his Constitution Modifier before suffering the effects of suffocation.
Elephant
A barbarian dedicated to the elephant totem does not gain the standard fast movement, uncanny dodge, trap sense, or improved uncanny dodge barbarian class features, and instead gains the following abilities.
- At 1st level, an elephant-totem barbarian gains Toughness as a bonus feat.
- A 2nd-level elephant-totem barbarian gains Skill Focus (Listen) as a bonus feat.
- At 3rd level, an elephant-totem barbarian learns to throw his weight around, and gains a natural slam attack, dealing 1d8 for a medium creature.
- Beginning at 5th level, an elephant-totem barbarian can Trample over foes while raging.
Rhinoceros
A barbarian dedicated to the rhinoceros totem does not gain the standard fast movement, uncanny dodge, or improved uncanny dodge barbarian class features, and instead gains the following abilities.
- At 1st level, a rhinoceros-totem barbarian gains Run as a bonus feat.
- A 2nd-level rhinoceros-totem barbarian gets a +2 competence bonus to intimidate checks.
- A 5th-level rhinoceros-totem barbarian gains Powerful Charge as a bonus feat.
Stag
A barbarian dedicated to the Stag totem does not gain the standard uncanny dodge, trap sense barbarian class features, and instead gains the following abilities.
- A 2nd-level stag-totem barbarian gains Lightning Reflexes as a bonus feat.
- Beginning at 3rd level, a stag-totem barbarian gains +5ft of movement. This bonus increases every 3 levels thereafter (+10 at 6th, +15 at 9, etc).
- At 5th level, a stag-totem barbarian gains Uncanny Dodge.
Monkey
A barbarian dedicated to the monkey totem does not gain the standard fast movement, trap sense, or improved uncanny dodge barbarian class features, and instead gains the following abilities.
- A 1st-level monkey-totem barbarian gains Brachiation as a bonus feat.
- At 3rd level, a monkey-totem barbarian gets a +2 competence bonus to Jump and Balance checks.
- A monkey-totem barbarian of 5th level gains a climb speed equal to his base land speed.
