Tiefling Baphitaur[edit]

For the tiefling superrace, see Unearthed Arcana: That Old Black Magic

On a rare occasion indeed, a minotaur mates with an abyssal tiefling, producing a fiendish, bovine humanoid. Such specimens, called "baphitaurs" by demonologists, shed the dull-witted elements of their minotaur heritage while retaining much of its physical might. If brought up by its minotaur parent, they are usually revered by the tribe, raised as shamans, seen as a minor avatar or prophet of The Horned Lord. If raised by a tiefling, they're often treated as bestial and subhuman by society at large. Warlocks and Demonologists often take interest in the more clear-headed baphitaurs and seek them out when they hear word of them passing by. If a priest would look down upon a tiefling, this is amplified by orders of magnitude in the presence of a baphitaur. Druids often think of them as crimes against the natural order.

Some of these creatures, especially those of savage heart, purportedly have bizarre visions, long to create secret places to indulge themselves, and sometimes start strange, druidic cults to worship Baphomet. These Baphitaurs gain bloodshot eyes, black fur, and the sharp teeth of a carnivore. (See the Madness of Baphomet on pg. 235 of Out of the Abyss for character flaws.)
