Axolotlfolk (aka Axies (5e Race)[edit]
Hunted and few, we slither in the shadows... waiting... -Aloxiskil, Nightwalker Archpriest
Physical Description[edit]
Basically, Axies are big (ish), mutant, axolotls. occasionally they have black skin, and the so called "nightwalkers" are considered a bad omen. their moist skin is otherwise white with pink freckles, and covered in mucus that allows them to squeeze through tight cave passages. Their external gills allow them to breathe underwater, and each one has special, unique gills that they use to recognize each other and sometimes communicate under water. they use minimal resources and use leaves from a type of kelp for clothing and most other gear. they are prone to mutations, and this makes them often strange to behold, sporting extra eyes and arms. They have large blue, green, or purple eyes that let them see better in the caves that they dwell in.
History[edit]
Although most theories on Axie origins are mere speculation, they seem to have been created by a substance called F.L.U.I.D.(Fundamental Lifeblood Untested Intellect Drops). This substance caused them to become sentient and grow larger (essentially, evolve faster.) the project was quickly abandoned, after a group of Axies broke into the research facility, stole what was left of the F.L.U.I.D.,and essentially ascended to godhood. The Axies, due to their constant and often counter-beneficial mutations, are an endangered species. They have been forced out of their habitats, and although they are usually peaceful, they are stirring for war. They are slowly being captured by S.E.R.U.M. (Scientific Exobiologists Researching Universal Metabiology), The group that created the F.L.U.I.D.
Society[edit]
The Axies are largely nomadic creatures that operate on a caste system of Gods, Priests, warriors, Then Farmers, and finally Nightwalkers. Due to their small numbers, they hate violence and can't afford to go to war with themselves because of their dwindling numbers. They revere the godlike Axolotlfolk that got the largest dose of F.L.U.I.D. (The Amoxel triomes). Hexus, lord of Axies, Emzix, The mutant Triome, and Viviqu, the lord of night. Of these 3, Emzix is believed to be their savior due to his quest to replicate the F.L.U.I.D. Then, they believe, he will give them the same power that he commands, and overthrow S.E.R.U.M. The truth is that he will likely keep the F.L.U.I.D. for himself. Hexus, however is their main deity. Despite this, more and more are beginning tho follow Emzix. Viviq is the least revered but most influential, as he can twist dreams to his will. Though Axies despise Violence, there is a rumor that they have marshaled a force of thousands of nightwalkers, skilled enough to rival humanities greatest armies...
