Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: +5 ASI and 4 skill proficiencies? It's not well justified, if they are similar to goblins. This could do with some more flavorful traits instead.

<Race Name>[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Awakened Fennec Foxes are quite similar to Goblins, small, squat creatures about 3 to 4 feet tall with pointed ears and equally pointy teeth. They have bright orange fur and sometimes vary through deep brown and occasionally a deep grey or silver. They have beady black eyes and squashed fox faces. Besides that, awakened Fennec Foxes resemble their normal animal counterparts

History[edit]

The Awakened Fennec Foxes were created by a group of Mages, which awakened many other animal races. At first they gave them their names and helped them build up small civilisations. But after some time the Awakened Fennec Foxes rebelled against the mages and with their sheer number they overpowered the magicians and thus gained their freedom. Despite this and their relatively young culture, Awakened Fennec history is rich with folklore and tall tales, ranging from hobgoblin invasions of old to the story of how a young Awakened Fennec once rode a chicken into an orc camp. However, it is also riddled with tales of subjugation and powerlessness as, due to their small size, they are frequently bullied into the service of other malevolent creatures. This history of groveling makes Awakened Fennecs dream of gaining power and strength of their own, which sometimes draws them to adventure.

Society[edit]

They build a humanoid like society, but are a bit more primitive. They build small civilisations out of caves, wood and sometimes dried clay. Each civilisation has their own Alpha and Guards, which are the strongest of their fighters. Nowadays, they are in some kind of passive war against the other awakened creatures created by those mages. Though they prefer to play practical jokes on neighbors, which sometimes can be just as bad as if they had declared war. Awakened Fennecs believe in reincarnation, which makes them even more dangerous than other awakened hybrids, as, without the fear of death, they have no qualms dying or sacrificing other species or even members of their own, for the greater (or their own) good. Occasionally they make their way to the cities where they are accepted, most of the time begrudgingly

Age. Awakened Fennec Foxes mature faster than other races considered fully grown at the age of 3. Unfortunately, Awakened Fennecs are also a very short-lived race not because of the shortness or their natural lifespan but because the majority of them live brutal and short lives or do brutal and stupid things. The oldest Awakened Fennec to date was a a gray haired elder, who had survived to the ripe old age of 43 until he fell asleep outside during a storm and drowned.
Alignment. Awakened Fennec Foxes tend to be Chaotic Neutral, however they are more primitive in that aspect. Their alignment is very obvious to see once you get to know one better.
