It's hard to believe that Asciar, the Demon Eater, was once a pit fiend. But he was. He used to be an ordinary general, leading the offense of the blood war, cutting down demons. But he also was curious. Smarter than the typical pit friends. And that was what would give him his true power. He noticed that demons devour each other's essence to gain their strength and grow. And so he gave it a shot. Why not? The effects were mixed. Drastic changes to his biology, like his hair and horns falling into a mess of floppy, asymmetrical bits of goo, growing a third arm, and his digestive tract twisting around into a blind gut. Some were more damaging: he grew too dense for his wings to carry him, and when his left hand turned into a living wolf's head, he had to cut it off. But there were certainly some more positive augmentations. Devouring the demon lord Atlanticus grew him a pair of pharyngeal jaws that could launch out of his throat and expand, to drag more demons down his gullet. Devouring Rarcracloni gave him the ability to telepathically control the world around him. And although his fight with Mania remains unresolved, what he's taken so far has made his hide more unpenetrable. Physically, he's a deformed amalgamation of devil and demon, and he's been shunned by devilkind for this. Recently, though, Khenret has taken note of his skills and brought him into the Council of Pride. He suffers from body dysmorphia and is generally reclusive and anti-social, but he's by far the sheer powerhouse of Khenret's council, a terrifying force of nature that can stand against a thousand demons and win. |
