Artiste de Cirque (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Artiste de Cirque[edit]
Bard College
The artiste de ciruqe - the circus performer, also known to many as the ringmaster or ringmistress - are usually found in the employ of traveling caravans and circuses. They are often one of the main performances of their associated events and many times direct the attention of the audience to other performances as the night goes on. When the show is over, however, these types of bards can be just as bewitching in the heat of combat. Their unusual mastery of uncommon weapons often leave their enemies mistakenly underestimating their ability.
Features[edit]
Unusual Tactics[edit]
Starting at 3rd-level, when you choose this college option, you dedicate yourself to the exotic and oftentimes confusing mastery of interesting weapons, specifically thrown weapons and the whip.
You gain the Thrown Weapon Fighting Fighting Style, which provides you the following benefit: You can draw a weapon that has the thrown property as part of the attack you make with the weapon. In addition, when you hit with a ranged attack using a thrown weapon, you gain a +2 bonus to the damage roll.
Also, if you make a weapon attack using a whip, the damage die used for those weapons becomes a d6 instead of the usual d4.
Star Performer[edit]
Also at 3rd-level, your aptitude for performances can be applied to your efficiency in combat.
Whenever you take the Attack action against a target, you may immediately make a Charisma (Performance) check contested against the target's Charisma saving throw. Upon a successful check, you may add your Charisma modifier to both the attack and damage rolls of that Attack action. If a feature or effect gives you additional attacks this turn, you may apply the bonus to the attack rolls of each attack, but you may only add the damage bonus a single time per turn.
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, and regain all uses after you finish a long rest.
Showtime[edit]
Beginning at 6th level, your charismatic presence spurs you into action. You gain a bonus to your Initiative rolls equal to your Charisma modifier. If you receive this type of bonus from another feature or ability, the bonus applied is equal to your proficiency bonus instead.
The Show Must Go On[edit]
At 14th-level, you willfully defy the odds in order to keep yourself a part of the action.
Once during your turn, when you are brought to 0 Hit Points, you may use your reaction to instead bring yourself to 1 + Your Charisma modifier Hit Points. If you are targeted for any additional attacks this turn, those attacks have disadvantage against you.
Once you have used this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.
