Arcane Tradition: School of Arcane Artillery[edit]

Wizard Subclass

Wizards who follow the School of Arcane Artillery are masters of launching magical projectiles with devastating precision. Considering Magic Missile the foundation of their craft, they refine this spell to unprecedented levels, transforming it into a deadly and versatile tool. Some see them as unmatched battlefield strategists, while others consider them unstoppable engines of destruction.


Projectile Specialist

2nd Level

You add Magic Missile to your list of known spells. If you already know this spell, you can enhance its functionality in the following ways:

  • Ricochet Strike. When a dart hits a target, you can attempt to redirect it to another creature within 10 feet of the original target. The second creature must make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, it takes half the damage of the original dart. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier per long rest.
  • Arcane Precision. When you cast Magic Missile using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can add your Intelligence modifier to the total damage dealt to a creature.


Arcane Gunner

6th Level

You have refined the art of quick and precise magical strikes, granting you the following benefits:

  • Piercing Bolt. When you cast Magic Missile, you can replace one of the darts with a larger, concentrated projectile. This projectile deals double damage but does not ignore force damage resistances. You can use this feature once per turn.
  • Rapid Barrage. As a bonus action, you can expend a spell slot to cast Magic Missile at its lowest level without consuming that spell slot. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.


Arcane Barrage

10th Level

Your mastery of Magic Missile allows you to enhance its destructive power in different ways. Whenever you cast Magic Missile, you can apply one of the following effects:

  • Devastating Impact. Each dart gains a +1 bonus to damage.
  • Delayed Strike. Instead of firing immediately, you can cause the darts to hover around you for 1 minute before launching them as a reaction or bonus action. Requires Concentration.
  • Forceful Impact. One dart of your choice pushes the target 5 feet away. The target can resist this effect with a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC.


Meteoric Barrage

14th Level

You have reached absolute mastery over Magic Missile, transforming each casting into a devastating spectacle:

  • The number of darts created by Magic Missile is increased by 50% (rounded down). For example, when cast at 1st level, you create 4 darts instead of 3.
  • Whenever you deal damage with Magic Missile, the target takes 50% more force damage until the end of your next turn.
  • Ricochet Strike now has the same range as normal magic.
  • When your magic missiles are blocked by a spell, such as Shield, you can sacrifice a number of darts equal to the cycle of the spell used to dispel it.
