Arcane Pastry Baker (5e Class)
From D&D Wiki
Arcane Pastry Baker[edit]
A young girl enters the small bakery in the backstreet of the city. She coughs because of a harsh cold plaguing her but the sweet smell of baked goods and the subtle nuance of sugar in the air lend wings to the girl and her thoughts set out on a wondrous journey filled with magic and wonders.
The elegant person behind the counter spots the new customer engulfed in the scents of the shop and takes a muffin from the shelf. The Pastry Baker hands the girl the muffin and tells her that this would be a little present for her. Words cannot describe the light in the eyes of the girl when she eventually eats the muffin. The taste is rich and complex though sweet and pleasing and there is even a small tear running down the girl’s cheeks. Afterwards the girl buys some muffins for her and her family as dessert and she leaves the bakery full of ambitions and the dream, to become a pastry chef herself but what she does not recognize is that the muffin she ate also contained a healing spell which cured her cold and healed her body.

Sweet as Honey[edit]
You emit an aura of sweet scent around you which fills the air with lovely odors of mild sugar and pleasant spices like cinnamon. Quite the distraction indeed.
Every creature within 10ft. of you has disadvantage on saving throws against being charmed. Furthermore, you gain advantage on persuasion checks as long as your opponent is within the sweet aura.
The range increases to 20ft. on Lvl. 6 and to 30ft. on Lvl. 14
Pastry Baking[edit]
You can bake little treats, like muffins, with encouraging results. Over the course of one hour per day, you can bake small pastries up to a number equal to your Charisma modifier. These treats are edible for 24 hours, afterwards, they become hard as stone and they lose their effect. You can give the treats to someone or keep them yourself. Consuming a pastry costs a bonus action.
On level 1, you can make pastries which can enhance one’s abilities. The next time, the consumer rolls a d20, be it a skill check, an attack or a saving throw, they can add the Charisma modifier of the pastry’s creator to the check.
On level 5, you can make pastries which sharpen one’s mind and reflexes. The next time, the consumer rolls a d20, be it a skill check, an attack or a saving throw, they roll with advantage.
On level 18, you can create elevating pastries that even god’s lust for. After consuming the pastry, the consumer get’s an additional action.
A pastry can only have one of the above effects. You can choose the effect while baking them.
Your routine as baker allows you to fit the hour of baking within a Long Rest. You can spend 1 hour of your long rest baking and still gain the effects of a long rest.
You can also make small treats like candy without the mentioned effects within this hour.
Spellcasting[edit]
Your love for sweetness is out of this world and it can alter reality like magic. All your spells contain sparkly effects like sugar in the air and they color the world in pastel. See chapter 10 of the Player’s Handbook for the general rules of Spellcasting and below for the spell list.
- Cantrips
You know two Cantrips of your choice from the spell list below. You learn additional Cantrips of your choice at higher levels, learning a 3rd cantrip at 4th level and a 4th at 10th level.
- Spell Slots
The level table shows how many Spell Slots you have to cast your Spells of 1st level and higher. To cast one of these Spells, you must expend a slot of the spell's level or higher. You regain all expended Spell Slots when you finish a Long Rest.
For example, if you know the 1st-level spell Cure Wounds and have a 1st-level and a 2ndlevel spell slot available, you can cast Cure Wounds using either slot.
- Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher
You know two 1st-level Spells of your choice from the spell list below.
The Spells Known column of the Level table shows when you learn more spells of your choice. Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For instance, when you reach 5th level in this class, you can learn one new spell of 1st or 2nd level.
Additionally, when you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the spells you know and replace it with another spell from the spell list, which also must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
- Spellcasting Ability
Charisma is your Spellcasting Ability for your Spells. Your magic comes from the heart and soul you pour into your art of making delicious sweets. You use your Charisma whenever a spell refers to your Spellcasting Ability. In addition, you use your Charisma modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a spell you cast and when Making an Attack roll with one.
Spell save DC = 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Charisma modifier Spell Attack modifier = your Proficiency Bonus + your Charisma modifier
- Ritual Casting
You can cast any spell you know as a ritual if that spell has the ritual tag.
- Spellcasting Focus
You can use your Cook’s utensils as a Spellcasting focus for your Spells.
Seductive Treats[edit]
At 2nd level, ALL the treats you create entangle the senses of the consumer. The consumer is instantly more likely to believe you.
After consuming any sweet you make, the consumer has disadvantage on Insight checks against you. This effect lasts for one hour.
Delicious Archetype[edit]
At 3rd level, you chose an archetype. Choose between Crème de la Crème, Cakewalk, Sweets for my Sweet, or Cookiemancer detailed at the end of the class description. Your choice grants you features at 3rd level and again at 7th, 10th and 15th level.
Ability Score Increase[edit]
When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
Gourmands Feast[edit]
At 11th level, You can use the Heroes’ Feast spell once per Long Rest. The feast contains all kinds of sweets you know of and they are created perfectly.
Cherry on Top[edit]
At 20th level, Your skills as a chef reach highs which are indescribable by mere words alone. Your presence is otherworldly but magically charming.
You gain 2 points in Charisma (even above 20)
Furthermore, your words work like the command spell on creatures which have eaten one of your treats in the last 24 hours and as long as they are within your Sweet as Honey aura.
Crème de la Crème[edit]
You specialize in making soothing creams and drinks like pudding. Your magic also becomes stronger and more efficient.
- Cream Filled Pastries
At 3rd level when you choose this archetype, you can fill your ‘Pastry Baking’ treats with a rich but pleasing cream. After consuming one pastry, the consumer regains HP equal to the Charisma modifier of the creator. This effect adds to the original pastry effect.

You can add your Spellcasting modifier to the Damage dealt by damaging Spells of the Fire or Radiant attribute.
Furthermore, the amount of HP healed by “Cream filled pastries” doubles.
- A Creamy Revelation
At 15th level, during ‘pastry baking’, you can bake a cream pie, which is sliceable into 8 parts. Eating one piece of this cake reduces the amount of time one needs to recover. The pie is edible for 24 hours.
After consuming a piece of this pie and after 5-minutes of rest, the consumer gains the benefits of a short rest.
Cakewalk[edit]
Baking and combining dough with magic is your forte. You also become better at controlling the odds of battle by supporting your friends.
- Baked Obstacle
At 3rd level when you choose this archetype, you can bake a cake within the space of maximal 1/2 cubic meter. In battle, you can throw the object as an action maximal 20 feet away.
The cake emits a sweet scent that influences near creatures. The scent offers the same boni as the “Sweet as Honey” feature but furthermore, if the near creature never tasted your treats before, it must make a Wisdom saving throw. On a fail, the creature needs to spend its action nibbling on your creation. This affects creatures entering the aura of the gingerbread or creatures starting their round within range which never tasted one of your treats.
- Gingerbread Arrow
At 7th level, you can bake up to 2 times your Charisma Modifier of gingerbread arrows during your pastry baking. These arrows can be used by any bow or crossbow. Alternatively, you can bake ½ of your Charisma modifier rounded down of Javelins. These objects can be used by other creatures than the creator.
These arrows count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
- A Trail of Cake crumbs
At 10th level, wherever you go, cake crumbles out of your pockets. These crumbs can only be recognized by people who tasted your treats before. The trail remains for 24 hours and then vanishes as if eaten by some animals. So the trail can be used to follow you or to find a way back.
- The Cake is not a Lie
At 15th level, you can decide to store a spell within your baked obstacle. As a Bonus action you can decide to unleash the spell. The used spell must be an AoE spell of any nature. Alternatively, a Spell that has the range of touch can be stored but the spell unleashes the moment, the cake is touched by any other creature than the creator.
To create the cake, you expend a Spell slot equal to the spell's level stored within the cake in the morning.
Sweets for my Sweet[edit]
Even you do not want to be alone, so help yourself by creating a sugary companion. Together you become a force to be reckoned with at close and mid-range.
- Delightful Servant
At 3rd level when you choose this archetype, you learn the find familiar spell and can cast it as a ritual. The spell doesn’t count against your number of spells known.
When you cast the spell, you can choose one of the normal forms for your familiar or the form of a small golem.
The creature counts, regardless of the form, as a construct and is made out of sugar.
- Sugar Rush
At 7th level, you learn how to use the additional energy within your body, which is gained by the rigorous amounts of sugar you consume.

- A Handful of Sugar
At 10th level, you attempt to slow the enemy down in close combat, by throwing sugar in its eyes.
After you attack a creature with a melee weapon, you can force the enemy to make a Constitution Saving Throw. On a fail, the creature looses its ability to multi attack and its movement speed is halved for 1 minute.
You can use this feature once per Long rest
- Two Types of Sweetness

Cookiemancer[edit]
You found your love of baking guiding you to these small treats. Through the use of certain spices and additives, you can drastically change the way your treats effect people.
- Bite-sized Confections:
At 3rd level when you choose this archetype, your chosen baking specialty causes your treats to become small enough to be very easily consumed. It is now a free action to consume a cookie, freeing up that bonus action for some sweet follow-ups.
- Almond Cookies:
At 7th level, you begin putting Almonds in your cookies, these tough nuts impart their sturdiness to the consumer. Anyone that consumes one of your cookies adds your Charisma modifier to their Armor Class until the start of their next turn.
- Devious Creations:
At 10th level, you make three very "special" cookies per day. You pick a target within 20 feet to throw one at, they must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + Charisma Modifier + Proficiency Bonus.) On a failure, they consume the cookie and must then make a Constitution saving throw at disadvantage (DC 10 + Charisma Modifier + Proficiency Bonus.) Failing this saving throw subjects them to the poisoned condition for one minute. The affected creature may make another Constitution saving throw with disadvantage at the end of every turn, ending the effect on a success.
- Joyful Creator:
At 15th level, the feeling you get seeing someone enjoying a creation of yours is powerful enough to move you spiritually.
