Spider Climb. The arachemon can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.

Web Sense. While in contact with a web, the arachemon knows the exact location of any other creature in contact with the same web.

Web Walker. The arachemon ignores movement restrictions caused by webbing.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The arachemon uses Summon Swarm. It then makes two attacks with its claws.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) slashing damage.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) piercing damage plus 3 (1d6) poison damage and the target must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Summon Swarm. The arachemon magically summons a swarm of insects (spiders) in an unoccupied space it can see within 5 feet of it.

Acid Web (Recharge 5-6). The arachemon throws an acid-covered web in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 7 (2d6) acid damage and is restrained until the end of its next turn. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and isn't restrained.

The arachemon is a creature with 8 pincer and a pair of large wings with four pairs of eyes. For its size, the creature is surprisingly light, typically weighing only about 70 pounds. Its hide matches the hue of the spiders it hosts, making it difficult to find individual spiders on the creature’s body unless one looks closely. By then, one is within range of the arachemon to dismember.

The arachemon is an unholy being recorded within the Arachnomicron. It functions as a symbiotic colony, with multitudes of spiders living on the surface of its body. It is a horrid sight to behold, even more so since these creatures usually live in broods. The arachemon constantly hunts down prey to feed its appetite as well as to care for its brood. However, they are notably extinct from Grisaire. All the records of them are recorded solely within Resoolt's lost book. It can be created if one secures the necessary sacrificial materials from the City of Ashes, which include eldritch essence.

What makes the arachemon particularly insidious is its symbiotic colony. As it is a host, the spiders it summons are entirely under its control and will attack threats to the arachemon. When the arachemon grows too weak to sustain them, the spiders devour the host and leave the carcass for a new host, cocooning its remains for 4 weeks time. At the end of this grisly ritual, a fresh, new, fully-grown arachemon is born of the cocoon. This new beast comes with its own colony of spiders and resumes its hunting once more. In an arachemon brood, many of these dormant cocoons can be found, waiting to be reborn.
