Aldani[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Aldani appeared as lobster people the size of humans when viewed from behind, but face to face any could plainly see their only section of flash partially uncovered by chitin is their human face, though even that sports and alien hue, scaled surroundings, and eyes protruding on stalks. Aldani are usually dull brown, rusty red, or dark grey in color, though their eyes could be any hue. When walking about on land, they could move using their bottom six legs, each a spindle of muscle and armor. When swimming in the water, they use their large, meaty tails for propulsion.

History[edit]

Modern Aldani are all descended from an ancient Chultan of the same name that overfished lobsters in a long-forgotten river to extinction. This stupidity infuriated Ubtao, God of the peninsula among other things, and he cursed the entire people to spend their days as lobster people. The Aldani peacefully accepted the consequences to their actions, but the other tribes of Chult were horrified of the strange new monsters and drove the new amphibians into the rivers. Over the centuries and generations, the Aldani have grown increasingly reclusive and untrusting of humans as they retreated to the Aldani Basin to live under the swamp. By the time of the Death Curse, no Chultan had seen an Aldani in over century and many thought them extinct.

Society[edit]

Aldani society is extremely insular and xenophobic, but also very peaceful. They shun all outsiders to their wet pit of a wet jungle through underwater stealth. If that doesn’t work, they will try to buy creatures to go away with treasures they dig up from the river and lakebeds. Only if hiding, bribing, and swimming fail will the Aldani resort to using their claws, but when they do they leave no survivors.

Aldani Names[edit]

The modern Aldani descend from a Chultan tribe and still use Chultan names.
