Fire Form. A creature that touches the phoenix or hits it with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 11 (2d10) fire damage.

Illumination. The phoenix sheds bright light in a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet.

Innate Spellcasting. The phoenix's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 18). The phoenix can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: detect magic
3/day each: flame strike, wall of fire
1/day: fire storm

Keen Sight. The phoenix has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Limited Telepathy. The phoenix can magically communicate simple ideas, emotions, and images telepathically with any creature within 100 feet of it that can understand a language.

Magic Resistance. The phoenix has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Magic Weapons. The phoenix's weapon attacks are magical.

Rejuvenation. When the phoenix dies, its body turns to ash, and from the ash comes an egg. The egg hatches as a phoenix hatchling during the next sunrise, regaining all its hit points and becoming active again. The new phoenix inherits all of the memories from its previous incarnation, although it is considered a new being.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The phoenix makes two attacks: one with its beak and one with its talons, or one with its Fire Ray and one with its talons.

Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d10 + 6) piercing damage, plus 11 (2d10) fire damage.

Talons. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d6 + 6) slashing damage, plus 11 (2d10) fire damage.

Fire Ray. Ranged Spell Attack: +10 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (4d6) fire damage.

Etherealness. The phoenix magically enters the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane, or vice versa.

LEGENDARY ACTIONS

The phoenix can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The phoenix regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Fiery Talons. The phoenix makes one attack with its talons.
Flame Burst (Costs 2 Actions). The phoenix unleashes a burst of flame in a 20-foot radius around itself. Each creature in that area must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 16 (3d10) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Burning Wings (Costs 3 Actions). The phoenix beats its fiery wings, sending out a wave of heat in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 18 Dexterity saving throw, taking 21 (6d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

A fully grown phoenix is a sight to behold, resplendent with outstretched wings and fiery red and orange plumage. It is said that seeing a phoenix is an auspicious event.
