An acid bird is a large bird covered in bright green plumage that inhabits warm regions, named for the potent acids that accumulate inside its body. The cry of an acid bird is similar to a humanoid's scream, believed by some to hint that acid birds were created by some evil being. When the bird dies, the natural processes that keep its internal acid in check fail rapidly, spraying caustic material all around.
Acid birds aren't particularly aggressive creatures, avoiding all other creatures that aren't openly carrying food and only attacking when they or their nests are threatened, but their droppings are highly acidic and capable of breaking down stone over time.
