Academic Tome[edit]
These manuscripts are the highly sought-after works of scholars who have scripted their experiences, knowledge of and opinion on various subjects. Some tell of the relationships between the planes of existence. Others detail a few basic rules of engineering and architecture. A character must study an academic tome for a total of 48 hours for a minimum of 6 days to gain a +2 informed bonus to his Knowledge checks on the particular topic the book discusses, be it local, arcane, religion, etc. The bonus is permanent and stacks with others. Characters can earn only one bonus from each individual tome and must have at least 4 ranks in the Knowledge skill in which the tome's perusal will improve.
