Absolute Devourer (5e Class)

Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: In general, anything that steals or mimics the abilities/features/traits of what they eat/kill is very suspect in 5e balance and require a lot of stringent wording to best place constraints. Gluttony makes this player extremely variable, since that is actually this ENTIRE CLASS. It doesn't seem very well balanced for play against first party content considering that this entire class is essentially controlled by what the DM throws at them.

Absolute Devourer Features[edit]

New body and New hunger[edit]

Starting at 1st level you gain these two traits:

Slime

You will lose all your racial abilities and also related ability increases and your old appearance, taking the form of a slime, your size will become small and you will become between 80 centimeters and 1 meter tall.

You have resistance to acid and poison damage, and you have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned.

You can hold your breath for 1 hour.

Furthermore, all your characteristics go up or down to 12, making the possibility of managing characteristics in the character creation phase useless.

Your movement is 7.5 meters.

You are immune to Sikness.

Due to your slime body you won't be able to wear any type of armor.

Gluttony

You gain the ability to devour the racial traits or feats, including class traits, of creatures you devour. if these died in the last minute.

However, you have "Slots", so you cannot take as many as you want indiscriminately. You have 2 types of these "Slots", namely the one for the traits and the one for the forms you can take, since even if in your own way you can take the form of the creatures you eat, you will not be identical, for example, if you eat a human and decide to steal its physical form, you will gain the ability to become a humanoid with the aesthetic traits that best represent you, but, once you have obtained those traits you will not be able to change them, on the other hand you will be able to decide when to return to being a slime or the new shape obtained.

You cannot absorb the ability to cast spells, unless these are feats such as "magic initiate", you cannot absorb the ability to perform rituals, you cannot absorb 2 identical traits, you cannot absorb abilities that give you "ki" of the monk.

At 1st level you can devour a creature by taking your action (the creature must be dead within 1 minute). When you devour you must make 1 Nature roll to understand what traits it has (the DC can be described by the Master or if you want it can be based on this: 8 + Challenge Rank of the Creature - Half of the overall Level), if you passed the roll you can make a second on Survival (the DC can be described by the Master or if desired it can be based on this: 8 + Challenge Rank of the Creature - Half of the overall Level), the latter if passed can make the player decide which talent to acquire, otherwise already from the first on nature not passed, he will randomly roll the skill to be acquired.

You can decide at any time when to overwrite a stroke with another or whether to simply remove it.

Every time you Devour a creature with Gluttony you can decide whether, in addition to its ability, you also steal its aesthetic form, you also get its size, but you will never be able to exceed the "Large" size. Furthermore, if the size to be devoured is larger than the large size, you will only be able to devour a part of it, not to mention that you cannot devour artificial creatures such as constructs, golems, mechanical entities and cosmic horrors.

Every level starting from the first, you get 2 "Ability Slots", while at the 5th - 10th - 15th - 20th level you get an additional "Form Slot", starting from the 1st level which gives you the first. For general understanding at level 20 you will have a maximum/total of 40 "Ability Slots" and 5 "Form Slots".

The Body can always evolve[edit]

At 2nd level you learn this feat's:

Unarmored Movement

Starting at 2nd level, your speed increases by 10 feet while you are not wearing armor or wielding a shield.

At 5th level you increase this movement by an additional 10 feet.

Natural Defense

Starting at 1st level, while wearing no armor your AC is equal to 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Constitution modifier.

The Body can always evolve[edit]

At 3nd level you learn this feat's:

Preservative Body

The internal space of your body is much larger than its external dimensions would suggest, you can hold up to 170 kilos, without exceeding the volume of 10 cubic meters. Retrieving an item from your body requires the use of a bonus action. Breathing creatures in your body can survive for a number of minutes equal to 10 divided by the number of creatures (minimum 1 minute), after which they will begin to suffocate. You can only store 1 bag of preservatives in this space.

Dust off your inner slime

The ooze has advantage on ability checks and saving throws made to escape a grapple or being knocked prone.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of yourself as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Ability Score Improvement[edit]

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

Multiclassing[edit]

It is not possible to multiclass from this class or even multiclass into it.
