How come elephants add a +5 bonus to damage rolls with their melee weapon attacks when they have a Strength bonus of +6? That's so weird. For most creatures, the damage that they deal obviously follows from their ability scores, but that's not how it is with elephants. I though that might've been an error but no, it's the same in my copy of the Monster Manual. Huh. Quincy (talk) 16:21, 8 December 2017 (MST)

Funny thing is, the average damage values are correct for +6, and not for +5. It seems like it's an error. The SRD on wizards.com, or at least the current version of it, lists it as +6 as well. One can see it on page 372 [1]. - Guy (talk) 18:21, 8 December 2017 (MST)
