Graatel (3.5e Sourcebook)/Deities and Religions
Chapter 6: Deities and Religions
Over Deities
The Divines
The Divines are the original Over Deities, existing at the very beginning of the universe and ultimately the shapers of worlds. Enigmatic and referenced only in passing in the most obscure of texts not much is known about them, and it is believed that no one has even uncovered their names. The Divines are enigmatic and do not notice anything on less than a cosmic scale. To administer over the various worlds the Divines created lesser over gods, putting them in charge of large portions of the universe. Kelvrocek was their chosen individual to shape the region of space that Graatel lies within.
Kelvrocek
Kelvrocek was formed by the Divines shortly after the creation of the universe and was designated the Over Deity for the galaxy that includes Graatel. Directed by the Divines Kelvrocek was required to populate worlds in each solar system, but he is ultimately an extremely lazy deity. Deciding his best course (also known as least amount of work) option took some time until he finally chose to steal individuals with divine blood coursing through their veins and had them compete until all the tasks were complete.
Kelvrocek, while lazy, is also cunning and secrative. Whenever he is confronted with a problem he will either arrange for someone else to solve it or in extreme (and sometimes aggressive) issues he will destroy the problem. He doesn't fiddle with any actual attempts to solve things; its not they are beneath him he just finds everything too time consuming and boring. His avatar form normally appears as a middle aged individual with a scraggly beard and has developed a fondness for fishing.

Megrados
Megrados was one of the original 30,000 individuals brought to Graatel by Kelvrocek to attain godhead and populate the world. Forsaking all other spheres he excelled as a combatant and eventually rose to become the Graatel god of War. Far from unintelligent he was able to best enemies others would swear impossible to defeat, even managing to kill a dracoliche prior to his ascension in single combat.
During the Refuge Swarm Megrados was forced to action by Harat-Drogos, a dragon lord that leaped through a portal as the races flooded onto the world. Harat, along with his dragon servant Jrathalks, were creating a fearful destruction amongst the fleeing races and del alike. Forcing Megrados to action he donned his war gear and headed into a battle that lasted 5 years fought over the skies of Graatel.
Megrados was eventually dealt a killing blow in his own gambit to end the fight with the dragon lord. Using the dragons' bulk he ducked around the great serpents neck and dealt a swift blow with his sword The Growler between the metal plates of the dragon lord. Unfortunately the gambit left him open to a counter attack and Harat-Drogos drove his spear downward into the neck of Megrados shattering bones and ripping muscles. Megrados fell to Graatel and legend states that his impact created the Star Ocean, a lake that surrounds an island. The lake itself permits no life to survive, regardless of species or sentience leading a dark and mysterious caution to anyone attempting the idea of looking for a fallen gods' artifacts.
