Dexterity Requirement?

Does anyone else feel this Feat should require some means of Dexterity to literally lunge a reach weapon, such as a spear, around a friend?

I feel that training in rank fighting (which is close, ordered) wouldn't help at all in a skirmish - the name of the feat is a misnomer. But to answer your question, I think it's more a matter of communication and training between the adventurers rather than dexterity - and characters wielding reach weapons are less likely to have Dex as a primary or secondary ability score.
