A Red Bird has red feathers covering its body, and a black beak, eyes, head-crest, and legs, and stands about five to five and a half feet tall, and weighs about 35-45 lbs. It feeds primarily on insects and small rodents such as mice, and the occassional small bird or spider. A single Red Birds territory is about 1 mile square. A Red Bird can be taught to mimic sounds like a parrot on a successful handle animal check DC 25, and six weeks of training. Red Birds are flightless, and therefore ground-dwelling.
Combat
A Red Bird will only attack and use its special ability if it feels threatened, or is defending a nest of eggs.
Scare(Ex): By spending a standard action to posture, make noise, jump up and down, open and close its wings, and make a general ruckus, a Red Bird can panic all creatures 6 HD or less within 30 feet of it that fail a DC 12 will save (DC: 10 +1/2 HD +2 racial bonus). This effect is similar to the Scare spell. On a successful save, a creature cannot be affected by that particular Red Bird's scare ability for one day.
Skills: Red Birds have a racial +4 to intimidate checks.
