Arcane Paragon Path: Elemental Mentor[edit]

I have read into the very flicker of the flame and found it's deepest meaning. Unfortunately, fiend, you shall only know it's deepest agonies.

Prerequisite: Any Arcane Class

The Elemental Mentors of Zagir are a sequestered qroup of arcanists who spend their days locked away in their laboratory chambers, studying every single detail of one chosen element. They are typically consumed by their fascinations, and strike out for adventuring infrequently. However, an Elemental Mentor who chooses to venture out into the world is a formidable and capable ally. They usually go adventuring to gain more resources for their studies, to test new spells or formulae, or to see the impact their magic can have on the world. Their knowledge of the merest ember of fire, crystal of frost, or bubble of acid makes them an asset when they must turn these forces against their foes. When you choose this paragon path, choose Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Necrotic, Psychic, Radiant, or Thunder. This choice is the energy type your Elemental Mentor specializes in (to the exclusion of almost all else), and is relevant to this path's features and powers as mentioned.

Elemental Mentor Path Features[edit]

Elemental Shift (11th Level): You brim with the power of your element, so much so that even your footprints leave trails of your element's passing. Whenever you shift, each square that you leave becomes a square in a line effect you create until the beginning of your next turn. Enemies who enter this line or start their turns there suffer 1d4 damage of your chosen damage type.
Elemental Action (11th Level): When you must apply extra effort to your abilities you do so with a remarkable display of your chosen element's power. Whenever you spend an action point to use an attack power, if that power has the elemental type keyword of the type chosen for this paragon path it deals an additional 2d6 of that type of damage.
Hybrid Weave (16th Level): Having studied your chosen element nigh unto mastery, every spell you cast bears the mark of your element's power. Whenever you use a power with an energy descriptor keyword (Acid, Cold, Fire, Lightning, Necrotic, Psychic, Radiant, or Thunder), you also treat the power as if it had the energy descriptor keyword of your chosen element. This does not inflict additional damage with the power itself, but deals damage of an additional type.

Mentor's Mark Attack 11
Your power surges outward in all directions, creating a new phase of your chosen energy that acts in ways alien to it's natural state.
Encounter Star.gif Arcane, Implement
Standard Action Close Burst 1
Target: Each enemy in burst
Attack: Intelligence Vs. Reflex
Hit: The target takes 5 damage of your chosen energy type and is marked until the end of your next turn.

Mentor's Mettle Utility 12
You know your element's mysteries and may, for a brief instant, become one with it, rendering you immune to it's harmful effects.
Encounter Star.gif Arcane
Immediate Reaction Personal
Trigger: An attack of your chosen energy type hits you.
Effect: You become immune to damage from your chosen energy type until the beginning of your next turn.

Elemental Breaker Attack 20
The power of your element folds inward on itself, creating a phasic energy that you can manipulate, and targets become more susceptible to your energy form as a result.
Daily Star.gif Arcane, Implement
Standard Action 10 squares Burst 2
Target: Each creature in burst
Attack: Intelligence Vs. Reflex
Hit: 3d6 + Intelligence modifier damage of any type other than your chosen type.
Effect: Until the end of the encounter, whenever you deal damage of your chosen type and another type to a target of this spell in one turn, you also deal an additional 2d6 damage that has all of the damaging energy types. The target cannot apply resistances until the beginning of it's next turn.
Special: This power has the keyword of your chosen energy type.
