I think it would be easier to just say that the adjusted spell level cannot be higher than a caster's highest spell level. All the math of "The caster's high spell leve minus the metamagic adjustment minus the spell" is basically just a long drawn out way of saying "The adjusted spell level cannot be a level of spell above what you can cast." I would assume that most people reading this article already know how metamagic spells work, theres really no need to break it down that far.
