Engineer, Prestige Variant (5e Class)
The Engineer Side Class
The Engineer is a side class, which means you take it alongside your main class depending on the campaign you are playing in, and according to your GM.
Shield Master
Anyone can bring the vessel’s shield up or down as an action, at the Engineering Station.
As an engineer, you can do so as a reaction or a bonus action.
Protection Mode
While at the Engineering Station, as an action and using your concentration, you can put the ship in protection mode.
Whenever it takes damage while in this mode, reduce the damage taken by your proficiency bonus × 10.
This effect lasts for 1 min, or you can end it manually without using any action. It also ends if you lose concentration or leave the Engineering Station.
Mending
As an engineer, when you take a long rest inside your vessel, it regains all his missing HP.
In addition, when you take a short rest inside your vessel, you are the one that roll its hit dice.
Stance
While at the Engineering Station, you can boost one of the vessel's system, as an action, entering it into one of the following stances. The boost disappears after 1 day and you can use this ability once per long rest.
Shield Stance: The shield takes half damage from any source.
Damage Stance: The phasers deal +1d12 damage × 10.
Speed Stance: Double the vessel’s movement
Genius
While at the Engineering Station, you can do an Investigation check, as an action, to attempt to find the weakest spot of an enemy's vessel. If you succeed, the next attack that hits the target deal maximum damage.
Once you use this ability on a target, you cannot use it again on the same target unless you perform a short rest.
Empowered Shield
While at the Engineering Station and your ship takes damage, you can empower the shield, as a reaction. When you do so, the vessel take minimum damage.
This can be used a number of time equal to your proficiency bonus each time you complete a short rest.
Repair Master
While at the Engineering Station, you can do an Arcana check (DC=12), as an action, to attempt to repair the broken shield. If you succeed, the shield regains 1d6 + your intelligence modifier × 10 HP.
