Peregrine falcons are birds of prey that are uncontested as the fastest creatures in the animal kingdom, reaching top speeds of 242 miles per hour while diving. They can also reach speeds of 68 mph while flying level. They are the most abundant falcons in the world, found everywhere except within the coldest climates and atop the steepest mountains. They mainly feed on smaller birds such as ducks and pigeons but aren't afraid to eat small mammals and reptiles as well. One notable trait that they all share is that they are all extremely territorial. While they can be docile creatures most of the time, whenever another bird of prey (such as a hawk, eagle, or blood hawk) trespasses on land that they claim as their territory, they suddenly become savage and ruthless fighting machines. It is when they are angered that they show no hesitation in mutilating those that challenge their territorial claims with their sharp talons. Within these conflicts, the peregrine falcon almost always emerges victorious, mainly due to its savage nature overwhelming other birds of prey that don't have time to react to its swift attacks. They also migrate across the world throughout their lives, finding hotter climates very comfortable in the winter and taking much enjoyment from living in frigid locations in the summer. Peregrine falcons can even be frequently found within humanoid villages and towns, building nests atop the roofs of the tallest buildings.
