Skills Perception +4, Stealth +4 Brave. The bear dog has advantage on saving throws against being frightened. Keen Hearing and Smell. The bear dog has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell. Pounce. If the bear dog moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a bite or claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the bear dog can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action. Running Leap. With a running start, the bear dog can long jump up to 25 feet. ACTIONSMultiattack. The bear dog makes two attacks: one with its bite and one with its claws. Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage. Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) slashing damage.

The bear dog, known as the amphicyon to scholars, is a large predator native to forested and grassland regions heavily populated by large animals. Bear dogs use their powerful, canine jaws to crush the windpipe of their victims and run at high speeds on muscular, ursine legs. These creatures are extremely territorial and guard their home stretch fiercely. |
