Naeads are water spirits known for the way they lure people to water in order to drown them. Naeads have been around as long as most can remember and as such their origin is not entirely known. However legends say that they are a form of Eladrin that chose to live in the waters of the Feywild rather than the forests.
Play a Naead if you want...
- To be charming and witty, but also incredibly strong.
- To be naturally cruel natured.
- To greatly enjoy being near water.
- To be a member of a race that favors the fighter, ardent, and warlord classes.
Physical Qualities[edit]
Naeads have the same body as petite humans. They are typically slim and always fairly short. Their skin is always some shade of blue and they have a fair complexion. Their faces tend to look mostly human, but with more beauty than typical. They have hair that ranges in color from bright green to dark red or brown. Usually their hair matches the plants on the ground of the lake they came from. Naeads don’t wear clothes in their natural environment and therefore tend to wear whatever the society they are staying in prefers. However they do tend to prefer fine clothes to plain clothes. Naeads live about half as long as humans, but never show any signs of ageing after childhood, which lasts from age 1 to age 12
Playing a Naead[edit]
Naeads are kind and charismatic right up to the point when they pull you underwater. In truth Naeads are typically deceitful and incredibly violent creatures. Most Naeads take great pleasure in drowning any passerby they see, although some choose only to drown those they deem evil. In truth the morals of Naeads tend to be up to the individual body of water, but no matter what, Naeads always drown people. Few non-Naeads have had the pleasure of seeing Naead society up close, but it is actually quite nice. Naeads tend to make small towns at the bottom of their lakes using the mud and plants of the lake bottom as building materials. Religious institutions are fairly common, but smiths are not as Naeads prefer to use their bare hands to kill. Naeads rarely leave their home places as being too far from water causes their connection to it to wane, and of course it is harder to drown people who are far from water. If a Naead does leave its home, it is typically for a new challenge in killing, a desire to hunt “the one that got away,” or because of a forbidden love.

Naead Adventurers[edit]
Three sample Naead adventurers are described below.
Selurin is a Naead Warlord. He fights primarily using small weapons such as daggers if he attacks at all. He prefers to lead his comrades to the final act of killing. Originally he was the leader of a small village, but was forced out of it due to his insistance that the rest of his populace expoand the city outward from the lake. He adventures with the hope of finding something to prove his plan was the right choice, and return to his people.
Fluis is a dryad Fighter who was known in her village for her long record of drownings. However one day a particularly skilled swordsman managed to squirm out of her grip and escape the rest of the her village, but not before leaving her beautiful face badly scarred. She now ventures out into the surface world in hope of catching the one that got away. She fights primarily by choking people with a spiked chain, as that is the only way to really simulate the drowning ways of her former home.
Heldrassil is a Naead Invoker devoted to Pelor with all of her being. Her village worshipped the sun god from below the waves, but somehow she never felt that this was enough. So, she decided to gather a group of clerics who served her and swim to the sun. Most of her followers were dismayed by how the water ended long before they reached Pelor, but she took it as a trial. So she ventures onto the surface in order to find some way to close the remaining distance between her and her beloved god.
