Catkin (singular and plural) are a small feline race, who consider life as one game after another. They tend to be lively and optimistic, and have an all-round playful nature. Catkin are known (and feared) for their ability to get in and out of trouble.
Play an Catkin if you want...
- To be slippery and sly
- To be cute and furry (use this to your advantage!)
- To be a member of a race that favors the rogue and warlord classes.
Physical Qualities[edit]
Catkin are small humanoid felines, their paws have retractable claws as well an opposable thumb. They are covered in fur and have a bone structure which resembles domestic cats, even though they walk upright just as other bipeds. Their most distinguishing feature is their fur. In cold climates, most catkin have long luscious coats which they shed in summer, while catkin from temperate climates have significantly thinner fur. The color of their fur tends toward browns and blacks, with strong tabby markings to aid with camouflage in the wild. However, many notable catkin have coats of other colors. Catkin usually don't wear clothes, but they do wear armor provided it doesn't restrict them too much.
Playing a Catkin[edit]
They share the personality traits of domestic cats. They are prideful, vain, clever, moody, obvious, obsequious, unfathomable, and aloof.
Catkin can of be any alignment, although the majority of them tend towards good.
Catkin are a minority race in every land that they live in. They live in almost every region. Those in hot regions have short hair and those in cold regions have long coats. Those in temperate regions have moderate coats.

Catkin Adventurers[edit]
Three sample catkin adventures are described below.
Demon is a rare breed among his kind--a warlord. He loves to wear his plate armor, and to scream ear-piercing battle cries as he charges into battle.
Mouser is a catkin Warlock who has made a pact with fey spirits. He originally believed his wits were everything, but after seeing his eladrin companion vanish, has become obsessed with arcane magic. He hasn't learned how to teleport, but dreams of using his non-existent teleportation to surprise trap makers. Mouser grew up believing money could buy anything, including world peace, and thus has a habit of hording magic items. The adrenaline rush he gets when he sees treasure for the first time is a drug for him.
Mog is a catkin Hexblade who followed his brother into the feywild and ended up making a pact with a winter lord. He loves to use his Fey Switch to play pranks on his allies.
