Elemental Master

I wonder what it is like to be alone?
—Sanart, Half-Elf Elemental Master

The elemental master is one of the few who find that a lizard or any animal that can be made into dinner is not a good companion, nor familiar. They have found that the beings of the elemental planes are better for a life of adventuring, and have mastered the method of calling them to their side and keeping them on friendly terms. Some start out by messing up the ritual to call their familiars, getting an elemental instead, while some actively seek them out; either way, it is the first step to a very long friendship.

Becoming an Elemental Master

The reason some pursue becoming elemental masters is usually because they understand that being in open combat leaves them open, especially against close-quarters combatants. With an elemental covering their casting, the master can focus more on their magic. Others find that having a warm body next to them at all times can be helpful (especially in the case of fire elementals). In all likelyhood, though, many mages walk this path for more than one reason.

Class Features

Elemental Servant (Su): At first level, your familiar becomes a medium elemental. The type of elemental cannot be changed once it has been chosen at level one.

Respawn: At 1st level, the elemental does not leaves it masters side when it dies or becomes banished; it reappears next to its master 10 minutes later. the master does lose any xp from their elemental destroyed: it is returned to it master. However, the elemental master suffers one negative level for the next 24 hours.

Elemental Enhancement (Su): Being exposed to it's masters arcane energy causes the elemental to become more powerful as the elemental master does. at 3rd level the elemental increases in size to a large elemental.

At 5th the elemental is able to deliver touch spells of it master as though it had cast them. the elemental uses its base attack bonus instead of its masters.

At 6th level, the elemental becomes a huge elemental.

At 7th level, the elemental gains an additional attack using its highest attack bonus.

At 8th level, the elemental gain damage reduction of 5 to all attacks

At 9th level, the elemental gains +2 to its dexterity.

10th the elemental becomes an elder.

Elemental Resistance: The elemental master begins to become more resistant to the elements of its familiar as he himself slowly becomes one. At 2nd level he gains elemental resistance 5 to the element he chose his elemental to be at first level. For instance, if an elemental master has a fire elemental he gains fire resistance 5. This is increased to elemental resistance 10 at 4th level, and maxes out at elemental resistance 20 once he reaches level 6, at which point it cannot be increased any further by magical effects (such as magical items or spells).

Fast Respawn: At 3rd level the elemental master has learned to reconstitute his elemental servant far more quickly. it now takes 1d6 minutes for the elemental to reform next to its elemental master. The elemental master no longer suffers a negative level for his servant dying.

Elemental Metamorphics: The elemental master has been exposed to so much elemental energy for so long that he has become one of the elemental peoples. At 10th level the elemental master is now considered to be an elemental as well as any other subtypes he is. This makes him immune to critical hits, sneak attacks, and the energy type of your elemental. At this point the elemental master takes on some of the physical aspects of his elemental, such as acid fumes seeping from his eye and mouth, or his hair constantly burning, or their skin becoming clear. these changes are up to the player and the DM to decide.

Rapid Respawn: At 10th level the elemental return reappears adjacent to the element master in 1d6 rounds after it dies instead of 1d6 minutes.
