Living Cartoon (5e Race)
Living Cartoon[edit]
"You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality." -Walt Disney
Physical Description[edit]
A small construct made of paper and ink. Often, jolly looking people who bear bright happy smiles and have a spring in their step. Their entire body and what they wear is typically black and white.
History[edit]
Long ago, a man took pen to paper and imbued magical power into the ink he used, creating the very first Cartoon. As he was displayed for all the world to see, other magic users and creative types began to create their own Cartoons, creating many new cheerful faces. Cartoons are still made to this day, by all manner of people for all manner of reason. To entertain, for selfish gain, or just to create.
Society[edit]
Creative Connection
Living cartoons typically don't stray from their creators, and tend to have a specific attachment to whoever drew them, regardless of their personality or alignment, and are very protective of them as well. Often, Cartoons and their creators band together and live in small communities together, forming cozy little towns. Should something or someone attempt to do harm to a Cartoon's creator, they might stake everything to help their creator, even their own life.
Made for Joy Originally made for a joyous purpose, most Cartoons seek to bring joy to others and entertain in some way. A theater is often the main place you'll find any Cartoon. Due to this joyous nature of the Cartoon, they detest grotesque amounts of violence. Often they take vows to never take action against another creature, unless in self defense. This leads to their disdain for races such as the orcs or gnolls that live for violence. A Cartoon that enjoys violence is often cast out of their home, sometimes along with their creators.
Abandoned Toons
Cartoons live often outlive their creators and find themselves at a terrible fate. Most Cartoon's creators might have an apprentice or other people to take up their craft after they've passed from this world, but some leave their Cartoons all alone. Those who have no one to succeed their creator become lost and fade into obscurity. They might leave their home and search for a someone worthy to succeed their creator, while others simply exist and live with a lack of pep or joy as miserable shells of their former selves.
