Valkar

Valkar is a harsh and icy nation to the far north, the ancient home of the valkaries and their norn brethren. The valkaries and norns also share Valkar with the einherjar, a mysterious race of outsiders that the norns summoned long ago to aid Valkar in defending themselves from their many enemies. In the ages since the einherjar arrived, no other country has dared to invade their cold shores, leaving the valkaries free to raid and pillage other lands with almost no fear of retribution. The valkaries are a whimsical people, and have had many alliances and treaties with both Bas'Mera and Rytha over the years, each one lasting no more then a decade.

Einherjar

The einherjar are the elite warriors of Valkar, created by the norns many centuries ago to defend their country from foreign threats. The norns created the einherjar by an extremely complex and dangerous magical ritual, which summoned the souls of extraplanar beings and melded them with valkarie bodies, forming a wholly new race that was lethal in combat. einherjar are completely loyal towards valkaries and norns, however; occasionally one will decide to pursue a life of adventuring.
- +2 strength, +2 dexterity, +2 constitution, -2 charisma.
- medium outsider (native).
- einherjar base land speed is 40 ft.
- resistance to cold, fire, and electricity 5.
- fast healing 1.
- SR 11 + hd.
- +1 racial bonus on all saving throws.
- -4 racial penalty on attack rolls against all creatures with the valkarie subtype.
- spell-like abilities: 3/day: Divine Favor. save dc is wisdom based. caster level same as class level.
- Weapon Focus (any) and Toughness as a bonus feat at first level.
- automatic languages: Valkaran.
- favored class: fighter.

Valkaries

The valkaries are a race of noble and, in their strange and ruthless way, honorable, warriors. They value bravery in combat, courage in life, and glorious deaths in battles. Their skalds (valkarie word for bard) sing many poems of brave warriors locked in honorable combat, only to fall on the blades of their foes. The valkaries are both raiders and traders, and do dealings with both Rytha and Bas'Mera, as well as Salahandrae and the brutal and primitive land of Elgador.
- +2 strength, -2 wisdom.

- +2 racial bonus on will saves against fear effects.
- +2 racial bonus on seafarer checks.

Norns

The norns are the opposites of their warlike cousins, the valkaries; they are wise, patient, and peaceful. Valkar is ruled by a valkarie king or queen (also known as the "High King", since Valkar also has many other "petty kings") but that monarch also has at least one norn adviser, who many say is the true ruler of Valkar. Norns stand around five feet tall.
- +4 intelligence, +2 wisdom, +2 charisma, -2 strength, -2 constitution.

- +2 racial bonus on all will saving throws.
- spell-like abilities: at will: Detect Magic, Identify, 3/day: Detect Thoughts, 1/day: Clairaudience/Clairvoyance. caster level 5. Save dc is intelligence based.
- automatic languages: Valkaran.
- favored class: wizard.
