Once a strongman in the traveling desert circus, Brutus had an aneurysm and died. Then he came back to life with a taste for adventure...and human flesh. Fearing an untimely death again, Brutus fled the circus. He found himself testing his strength in the arenas, taking on all comers for the benefit of a necromancer with a gambling problem. His successes soon caught the eye of King Christophe II, granting him a unique position--the lawful authority of the necropolis to the east: Epitaph. It's a boring job, but his new partners in business and the endless supplies of deputies makes it worthwhile...
