Dragonborn Elemental Charge
Prerequisites: Dragonborn
You learn to use your scales to charge elemental energy associated with your draconic ancestry. You gain the following benefits:
- When you are about to take damage (before any resistances applied), you can use your reaction to assume a parrying stance to charge energy using your draconic scales. Until the end of your next turn, you gain the ability to capture incoming energy associated with your draconic ancestry, absorbing the damage with effects and storing it for your next unarmed strike or breath weapon. You take no damage from the absorbed damage. When you hit with an unarmed strike, the target takes an extra damage equals to the amount of the current absorbed energy. Also, you can add this extra damage to the damage roll of your breath weapon on your turn. After either case, all the amount of current absorbed energy is dissipated and reduced to 0. As long as you are charging energy, at the end of your turns, you must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw (you automatically succeed if you have a protective energy force active [see below]). On a failed save, all the amount of the current absorbed energy is dissipated and reduced to 0.
- On your turn, you can use your action to create a protective energy force that surrounds you by using all the amount of current absorbed energy, manifesting as a elemental energy inside your draconic scales. While you aren’t wearing armor, if a creature hits you with a melee attack, the creature takes damage equals to the amount of the current absorbed energy. After this, all the amount of the current absorbed energy is dissipated and reduced to 0. As long as the protection still active, at the start of your turns, you must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, all the amount of the current absorbed energy is dissipated and reduced to 0. The protective energy force ends as a result of the current absorbed energy been dissipated and reduced to 0.
