5e SRD talk:Mounted Combat
From D&D Wiki
- What is minimum size difference between rider and mount? While it's obviously possible to ride something 1 size larger (e.g. Horse), is it possible to ride something your side (e.g. Medium character trying to ride 5e SRD:Pony, 5e SRD:Mule). --95.167.183.235 05:46, 30 October 2024 (MDT)
- "One size larger than you". But, there were IRL cases of Humans riding Donkeys and Mules... --95.167.183.235 06:02, 30 October 2024 (MDT)
- If there's some monster or creature what roughly matches your Alignment, or is Unaligned - and is of appropriate size - you can ride it. That's good, considering what most standard mounts are really fragile and would quickly get killed at high levels. Many would act Independent, though. --95.167.183.235 05:46, 30 October 2024 (MDT)
- Can you put multiple Riders on Mount? For example, in history, there were cases of War Elephants carrying multiple soldiers. --95.167.183.235 06:03, 30 October 2024 (MDT)
- Possibly, the only limit is mount's carry capacity. Otherwise, put as much riders as you want. Mount is controlled by either itself, or one of the riders. --95.167.183.235 13:56, 31 October 2024 (MDT)
- Could you try to climb on unwilling creature, what is at least 1 size bigger than you? Basically, "rodeo" or "forced ride". What is DC for that; or is it opposed check? --95.167.183.235 06:05, 30 October 2024 (MDT)
- If that succeeded, you couldn't control it - but you could get advantage of sorts, since it's hard to dodge attacks from someone who's sitting on you. And, you're not touching ground, and get moved around by creature. Could be useful in some cases. --95.167.183.235 06:08, 30 October 2024 (MDT)
- The same thing would apply if you mounted willing creature, but then it turned into unwilling one in the middle of ride (e.g. you Charmed it, and climbed on creature before effect ended). Or, if it was unwilling, but couldn't do anything about you sitting on his back (Incapacitated) - and then, suddenly became able again. --95.167.183.235 08:02, 30 October 2024 (MDT)
