Most of the principles at 5e Class Design Guide still hold true for the revised 5th edition.
There are a few differences, as follows
Primary Ability[edit]
This entry in the core traits template is to inform the reader immediately which should be their highest ability score. In some cases, two alternatives can be listed ("Strength or Dexterity" for the Fighter, for example) or two equally important abilities ("Dexterity and Wisdom" for monk, for example).
Starting Equipment[edit]
The choices of starting equipment, (A) and (B), should have a value that depends on the expected starting equipment for the class. A class expected to begin with martial weapons and armor may have starting equipment valued at 100 GP or more; while an austere spellcaster or monk-like class might begin with 50 GP's worth.
Feats[edit]
In the 2014 Player's Handbook, Feats were considered optional and thus it was recommended that class features do not refer to feats at all. However, an Ability Score Improvement is now codified as a feat, and all core classes gain an Epic Boon (now a type of feat) at 19th level.
Ability Score Improvements continue to be a standard feature at 4th, 8th, 12th and 16th levels.
