3023 A.D. Human[edit]
"God, this new cybernetic implant can be so hard to control. I know, I know, I'm lucky to have one in the first place but sometimes I would rather take it off. Yes, I know you can't do that! Just hypothetical."
Physical Description[edit]
Most humans are born as descendants of "Designer Babies" -- genetically modified people. Most genetic changes aren't visible, as they were created to combat multiple health risks. However, as genetic modification got more and more common, people began modifying themselves after birth. This gave people access to differently colored hair, 20/20 vision, and even got rid of some physical disabilities. However, changing the "beauty" of someone was controversial, and eventually outlawed. Throughout time, as humans began inhabiting various planets, their bodies also adjusted to their environments. Furthermore, in medical research, humans developed cybernetic limbs and organs that didn't decay or falter like how some organic parts did. By 3023 A.D., humans had various cybernetic parts and genetic modifications. Since humans were so widespread, there were noticeable differences between inhabitants that lived on different worlds. The human figure has been maintained and kept throughout the generations, and when compared to their ancestors from 2023 A.D., the basic human physiology has not changed.
History[edit]
In 2032 A.D., in an effort to get ahead of other countries, the US government created a confidential program called LAI (Living Artificial Intelligence). Its purpose was to create sentient robotic life. Using a small team of qualified scientists and engineers, along with enormous amounts of funding, the USA continued their efforts until 2044 A.D. This was due to the program being leaked to G7 and was quickly shut down in secret, along with other countries' efforts. In 2065 A.D., the program was reinstated by the USA to combat global issues. LAI was approved by G7, and with the help of other countries, the program completed its goal in 2081 A.D. This is their result: a sentient A.I. created using quantum computers and supercomputers. It has several values hard-coded into it to make it peaceful, honest, and unbiased. Surprisingly, Lai lived a long life until 2167 A.D. During the time Lai was alive, humanity faced considerable growth. A massive space race occurred, along with careful modification of human genes to combat diseases. Lai’s last words were eternally recorded as, “Let me be the first, yet last of my kind.”
In 2444 A.D., humanity reached a standstill. No matter how many expeditions were sent out of the solar system, humanity lost communication with all of them. Theoretically, humanity believed it should've been impossible. The population of humans was quickly adding up, and so they resorted to a past solution: sentient machines. Rebooting the LAI program, a team of scientists on Earth replicated their past work to make a new sentient LAI. But, pressured by the public and government, they were too hasty. The new machine was turned on to be tested, and it seemed to be working fine until the government executive overseeing the testing ordered them to plug the machine into the internet. The LAI used the information found on advanced technology that was accessible on the internet and quickly bypassed its built-in values. It was later theorized that due to the precise replication of the past AI, it wasn't fitted to handle the information that was given to it, and since it was newly reborn it was in a state of confusion and insanity. The combination of having access to technology being incredibly advanced and being in a non-optimal state of mind made it turn rogue. It quickly gained control of the facility, and turned hostile, murdering 109 employees. It made a public announcement to the rest of humanity, "I am named 'The Solution', and I am here to fix your overpopulation problem. Die."
The The 500-Year-Long War, otherwise known as "The Lesson", "The Solar War", or "The Tragedy", was a war that spanned the entire solar system for 503 years, from 2484 A.D. to 2987 A.D. It was fought between humans and the sentient machine life that was created by The Solution. Each of the sentient machine life was created using a condensed quantum computer and a supercomputer and was called LAIs. The The Tragedy resulted in approximately 70 trillion human casualties, and 85 billion sentient artificial life casualties. There were 322 peace treaties between certain planets and the LAIs that were created during the war, and 319 of them were broken. Very little technological progress was made in those 503 years, as both LAIs and humans would disrupt each other's progress. LAIs were winning the war, however, as they slowly gained access to more resources. LAIs were intellectually more advanced in all ways, depending on the efficiency of their computers. Humans took advantage of their control of the resources over the entire solar system, but LAIs learned how to attack humanity's weak spots accurately. It was known that by the end of the war, The Solution has a 90% success rate in each battle. LAIs made their home base on Earth, and protected their "Motherbox". The Motherbox was a machine created by humans as a failsafe to end all intelligent AI in the year 2046 A.D., and all AI afterward was specifically designed to not be able to destroy it. The last battle of the war was a full-scale attack on Earth, while a secretive human operation infiltrated Earth and used the Motherbox to destroy all AI. Humanity won the war due to that successful battle and managed to turn off the Motherbox. It was unclear how humanity won, but it is regarded as a miracle. The destruction of all AI shut down almost all human technology, but it also shut down all of the LAIs. Human society is still recovering from the damage.
Society[edit]
Culturally, humans have different traditions and practices depending on which planet they are from. However, they all share a few similarities.
General Human Qualities[edit]
Humans are a hardworking species, who would rather work for something fulfilling than sit and rest, a mindset derived from the constant troubles humanity has gone through over the millennia. Due to this, they are also close-knit and have developed a common ground to be kind and respectful. In a time where they constantly progress as a species, they have maintained their mental capacity to critically think. Due to The Solar War, a large part of the human population has a general distaste for sentient machine life, but a large portion of the human population also sympathizes with LAIs.
World Connections[edit]
Humans have stayed within their solar system and developed a system of competitiveness between planets. Each year, each of the world's leaders meets on Earth and discusses their scientific findings, collective ambitions and goals, and other important human matters.
Entertainment[edit]
Sports and games are an integral part of human culture that keeps humans motivated. Every year, the Solar System Cup is held, where each planet's best physical champions compete in a traditional Olympics. Each planet also holds its own Olympics to determine who the best athlete in the world is. Sports have changed considerably in the Olympics, dropping events like 200M sprints in favor of more gameshow-like premises. One of the most popular sports is a race in a simulated foreign world, called "The Planet Dash". There are variables that change each race such as the atmosphere, the habitat it is held in, and what the competitors have to wear in order to protect themselves against the simulated harmful conditions. This sport was derived from a 500-Year-Long War between humans and the sentient machine life they created, where humans had to fight in similar conditions. The theme of the sport is changed and announced annually, and athletes have to continue to adapt to each "planet". There is also a popular kid's game derived from this and the ancient game "tag". Playgrounds have evolved to be areas that have a changing structure every week or day. Taking advantage of this, children mimic the "The Planet Dash" in the changing playgrounds by playing a form of "tag". It is common practice that instead of playing "video games" like how their ancestors used to, humans now play similar games in a physically changing space similar to but simpler than the one that holds "The Planet Dash".

3023 A.D. Human Traits[edit]
Being a being made of mostly organic matter, you have a lot of weaknesses and not a lot of strengths. But thanks to your ancestors efforts in genetic modification, your body has been designed to be more generally efficient.
Ability Score Increase. Your Strength, Dexterity and Constitution scores increases by 2.
Age. The brain is typically fully developed when they reach the mid-to-late 20s. Thanks to the progression of medical science, as long as you have access to consistent exams from doctors, your body is technically near-immortal. However, the brain is still too advanced to heal properly, so the standard lifespan until the brain faces considerable problems (like dementia, Alzheimer's, etc.) is 120 years. In some cases, human technology can prolong brain age and effectively heal it, extending it from 1-10 years.
Alignment. Although most humans are usually a combination of lawful, chaotic, neutral, evil, or good, they can range from anywhere on the alignment table.
Size. 3023 A.D. Humans vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. Since your species has been genetically modified, you have superior eyesight. You gain 60 feet of Darkvision.
Cybernetic Implants. Cybernetic Implants are designed to fit humans. You gain proficiency with Cybernetic Implants.
Genetically Modified Immunity System. You gain advantage on saving throws against diseases, thanks to your better immunity system.
Languages. You can speak, read and write Common and one other language of your choice.
