Way of the Gentle Arts (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Way of the Gentle Arts (Ju-Jutsu)[edit]
Monk Subclass
Monks of The Way of the Gentle Arts use grappling to defeat their foes.
- Technique Over Power
When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you learn to use the opponent's force against themselves rather than confronting it with one's own force. You may add your Wisdom modifier to your Strength (Athletics) check when performing grapple or shove checks.
- Enhanced Martial Arts
On choosing this tradition, Monk weapons do not hinder your grappling abilities. You can still make a grapple attempts with a hand that is holding a monk weapon.
- Body Shield
Starting at 6th level, when an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack and you have a different creature grappled, you can use your reaction to make attempt to shield yourself with that creature. Make a grapple check against the grappled creature. On success, they become the target of the attack, otherwise you take the hit as normal.
- Dominance
At 11th level, you have mastery over an opponent in your grasp. A grappled opponent is subject to the Restrained condition.
- Body Slam
Beginning at 17th level, you can use your Ki to momentarily enhance your own body to throw your opponent. When you successfully shove a creature, you can spend 1 Ki point to throw that creature at another target creature within 10 feet. The target creature must make a dexterity saving throw. On failure, both creatures take 1D6 + your strength modifier + 1D6 for each size category the thrown creature is above Small, and they are both knocked prone. On success, it takes half damage and remains on it's feet; the thrown creature still takes the full effect.
