Way of Vhaeraun's Clergy (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Way of Vhaeraun's Clergy[edit]
This is a monk subclass for monks who worship Vhaeraun and seek to further His goals through subterfuge, espionage and assassination.
Monks of the Way of Vhaeraun's Clergy possess keen understanding of arcane energy, are experts in stealth, opportunistic in combat and deliver lethal force when it is needed most. The masters of the Way of Vhaeraun's Clergy commend their students for executing orders with very little direction and, of course, without detection. Monks of the Way of Vhaeraun's Clergy operate independently and avoid discovery by rarely gathering as a brotherhood.
- Bonus Proficiency
Starting at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in Stealth, if you aren't proficient with it already. If you are, you can choose to gain proficiency in Sleight of Hand, Deception or with the Thieve's Tools instead.
- Shadow Arts
When you choose this monastic tradition at 3rd level, you can use your ki to duplicate the effects of certain spells. As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast darkness, darkvision, pass without a trace, or silence, without providing material components. Additionally, you gain the minor illusion cantrip if you don't already know it.
- Vhaeraun's Mark
At 6th level, your studies reveal greater understanding of arcane energy and, with a bonus action, you can use your ki to mark your foe. Your mark is similar to hunter's mark. If your mark is vanquished before your spell's duration expires, the ki points spent on marking your enemy are refunded and you are again able to use a bonus action, if you have one available, to mark another foe.
Spending 1 ki point casts the spell at level 1, spending 3 ki points casts the spell at 3rd level and spending 5 ki points casts the spell at 5th level.
- Assassin's Guile
By 11th level, you are deadliest when you get the drop on your mark. Whenever you attack the target of your Vhaeraun's Mark, that attack is made at Advantage.
- Eilistraee's Demise
At 17th level, you learn to channel Vhaeraun's wrath to affect vengeance on your enemies and gain the ability to set up lethal vibrations in their bodies. When you hit a creature with a monk weapon attack, you can spend 5 ki points to start imperceptible vibrations, which last for a number of days equal to your monk level. The vibrations are harmless unless you use a bonus action to end them. To do so, you and the target must be on the same plane of existence. When you end the vibrations, the creature must make a Constitution saving throw, with disadvantage if they are affected by Vhaeraun's Mark. If the creature fails their saving throw, it is either reduced to 0 hit points or killed instantly, your choice. If it succeeds, it takes 10d10 necrotic damage.
You can choose to end the vibrations harmlessly as a free action.
