Description[edit]

The Wasp is a relative of the Dragonfly, built to suit the needs of amphibious creatures. As such, it contains a central pool that for many races doubles as both a home for their aquatic pets and as a refuge from dry air. The raised hump on the Wasp's back provides high ground for the ship's main weapon turret.

Ship Uses[edit]

Pirate Vessel: Lizard men and sahuagin both favor the Wasp as a pirate vessel, filling its pool with alligators or sharks and forcing uncooperative prisoners to "walk the plank."

Adventuring: Many adventuring parties find that a captured Wasp is well suited to their needs. Though small, it is a handsome, even impressive, ship, and on some worlds has been confused with the ebony fly magic item. While human parties often drain the pool, tritons prize the ship for it.

Luxury: Small enough for easy handling, large enough for comfort, and rather attractive, the Wasp makes and ideal home away from home for those few wealthy enough to afford such a frivolity. Such craft usually see their pool used as a swimming area, sometimes with temperature controls to simulate a hot spring.

Ship Variants[edit]

Fleet-Footed Wasp: When a more maneuverable ship is wanted, many captains resort to this tried-and-true configuration, with only 12 AC but max ability mod of +3. A medium jettison is then installed in the tail section to deter pursuit, taking up 3 tons of cargo space.
