The Inevitable City[edit]

The Inevitable City is a darkling realm in the firmanent of the Astral Sea, a city created out of purest entropy and forged by the will of a dark god. It is a great center of planar commerce, its obsidian walls reflecting the silent malice of its creator and the beings that scheme and plot within its walls. Its gates are like circular maws, its warped and alien geometries maddening in their intensity. In its libraries can be found tomes of eldritch lore collected by its lord of entropy, in its streets souls can be brought and traded, and within its walls madness and torment awaits the unaware. Death is not the end here, only the beginning of an eternity of torment. Adventurers, be warned.

Features of the Plane[edit]

Tzakarath's Palace: This palace stands at the center of the Inevitable City, and is home to Tzakarath and his legions of Masked Horrors. It is high up, overshadowing the rest of the city with its obsidian towers, and looms high over it, telling the rest of the city that Tzakarath reigns over them.Tzakarath's throne is at the highest point of its high towers, from which his Eye sees all.

The Eldritch Libraries: The Eldritch Libraries are near the heart of the Inevitable City, and are made up of grimoires of black magic pilfered and stolen from libraries across the universe. Tzakarath is studying them nigh-constantly, searching for ways to defeat his divine enemies and reign supreme over them all. They contain many grimoires, codices, writings and mad scribings of long-dead scholars.

The Soul Markets: In the Soul Markets, the souls of the dead are brought and sold, alongside other greatly valuable items and objects. Anything can be found and brought in this bazaar, if you are willing to pay the price, which is always very high. Wealth is no object - the price is always spiritual, such as the life of your lover or the spirit of your greatest friend.

Plane Links[edit]

There are portals to the Covenant Plane and the Prime in some places.

Plane Encounters[edit]

Baatezu: A group of minor Baatezu running an errand for their lord.

Yugoloths: Minor Yugoloths searching for something important to their kind.

Playthings: Warped and twisted playthings of Tzakarath. These beings were once humanoid but have been warped into Outsiders during their millennia of torment.

Ghosts of Entropy: A group of minor incorporeal undead with a major one leading them. Extremely dangerous.

Masked Horror: One of Tzakarath's Masked Horrors, leading a group of playthings.

Portal: This portal probably leads to the Covenant Plane or the Prime. It's best not to try and find out, however...

Tzakarath: The lord of the city himself, and a greater deity, wandering its streets. If he gets angry, RUN! It might not save you, but fighting him definitely won't, unless you can beat him...

Alternate Variances[edit]

The Inevitable City contains many minor alleyways and boulevards that resemble parts of Baator, Gehenna, and the Abyss, seeing as it is an interplanar metropolis. Being extraplanar and thus not having to obey petty things like 'the laws of physics', even these minor parts can be immense.
